Clear Channel Airports and Monster Media announced a partnership Thursday (May 20) to bring Monster Media’s new multi-touch gesture-based digital ad displays to select airports.
On June 1, the first display from the partnership will go live in the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport with Microsoft Hotmail (which just underwent a makeover) as the first advertiser.
This isn’t the first time the two companies have partnered on displays, but it is the first time that large-scale, multi-touch technology will be used in a public environment. Former gesture-based technologies limited the number of interactive touch points on the display.
Located in the central terminal of the Sea-Tac Airport, the new wall display is made up of nine 46″ multi-touch LCD screens in a 3 x 3 grid pattern, for a total footprint of 91 inches high and 144 inches wide.
In addition to involving passersby to interact with the multi-touch screens, the display includes Monster’s built-in audience measurement system that is able to track the gestures.
“Through our gesture technology display at Sea-Tac Airport, we’re providing advertisers with a new way to deliver truly memorable brand experiences,” said Toby Sturek, president of Clear Channel Airports.
Other airports planned for multi-touch displays include Chicago O’Hare, San Francisco International, Philadelphia International, Boston Logan International, Denver International and Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International.
