Plane, money sack or piggy bank?
Monopoly fans worldwide can cast their vote for which of these three items should become the game’s next token on the Web site (www.monopoly.com) created by Boston-based Eymer Design.
Eymer-created banner ads are running on GeoCities, Lycos and USA Today Web sites.
The shop is no stranger to Monopoly’s manufacturer, the Pawtucket, R.I.-based Hasbro. It has already created sites for Hasbro’s Lost World/Jurassic Park’s toy collection and its Easy Bake Oven.
The Monopoly site, however, is one of the biggest yet, according to Eymer Design official Dan Tucker. The site received almost four million hits on July 8, its debut day.
Voting closes in December and the new token will be announced at the end of the year.
Tucker’s choice? The sack of money. “It says Monopoly to me,” he explained. He is not alone in his preference: The site tallies the number of votes every 15 minutes and at press time, the sack was leading with 117,925 votes.
