Carmichael Lynch Snares Corningware

CHICAGO World Kitchen Inc. awarded advertising duties for its flagship Corningware account to Carmichael Lynch, agency executives said.

Last June, Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis, won the ad account of WKI’s Chicago Cutlery brand following a review in which crosstown shop Martin/Williams landed the company’s Corelle brand. The Corningware account had been with Pedone & Partners in New York since 1988.

Elmira, N.Y.-based WKI (formerly Corning Consumer Products) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last May to restructure $812 million in debt. The company is in the midst of a three-year rebuilding plan.

Billings for the Corningware account were not disclosed. WKI is expected to spend about $10 million this year advertising all its brands, which include OXO, Revere and Bakers Secret, according to sources. Spending for Corningware was $1 million through the first 11 months of 2002, according to CMR.
