So the client has a new hip restaurant concept it’s testing on Ohio, and wants an impactful campaign . . . on a shoe-string budget. That’s what Chicago-based Eire Partners faced when it was asked to develop some spots for Bob Evans Farms’ Cantina Del Rio restaurants. The agency shot 10 hours of videotape for ‘practically nothing,’ and inserted some funny graphics and old bad grade-school film and produced 12 ads that make the restaurant look different and fun. The secret to its success, though, may be in the media buy. The 60-second spots are running in the Columbus area every Saturday night before Saturday Night Live on the NBC affiliate. The ads, which feature a ‘fresh-o-meter,’ begin with a reporter-like narrator who says, ‘Live from Cantina Del Rio, it’s Saturday Night.’
