Bud Toasts Earnhardts

NEW YORK Budweiser will spotlight its status as the “official beer of Nascar” while paying tribute to the Earnhardt racing family with a spot that will break on national TV this Sunday on Father’s Day, during the 3M Performance 400 from Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, Mich., on Fox.

The 60-second spot features three generations of Earnhardts: six-time Nascar Sportsman Series champion Ralph, shown in black-and-white shots racing a cream-colored 1955 Chevrolet; seven-time Nascar series champion Dale, seen in his No. 3 Goodwrench car; and Dale Jr., racing in his No. 8 Budweiser car.

During the spot, via DDB in Chicago, a voiceover relates, “Seems as long as there’s been a Nascar, there’s been an Earnhardt racing in it. Times may change. Tradition rolls on.” The spot will first air today online at Budweiser.com.

“Earnhardt and Budweiser are two of the most recognized names in auto racing, and we have enjoyed a long, successful relationship with the Earnhardt family,” Tony Ponturo, vp of global media and sports marketing, Anheuser-Busch, St. Louis, said in a statement. “The Earnhardts’ fan following is unlike any other family in Nascar, and we think fans will appreciate seeing them together again on Father’s Day.”
