Brown & Williamson Turns to Media Kitchen

NEW YORK Brown & Williamson Tobacco has selected Media Kitchen to handle its media planning and buying account after a review, a search consultant with ADvice & ADvisors confirmed. Media Kitchen beat Media First International, MindShare and incumbent MediaCom in the final round of a review.

The client spent $50 million on ads last year, per TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.

Media Kitchen, New York, a unit of the Kirshenbaum Bond Creative Network, beat three other New York agencies to land the business: Interpublic Group’s Media First International, WPP Group’s MindShare and the incumbent, Grey Global Group’s MediaCom. The latter handled the business for nine years.

The review was managed by New York consultancy ADvice & ADvisors, which confirmed the selection but declined further comment.

The Louisville, Ky. client, which is the U.S. arm of British American Tobacco, markets brands such as Kool, Pall Mall and Lucky Strike.
