Avocado Commission Taps Trio of PR Finalists

BOSTON The California Avocado Commission has named three finalists in its search for an agency to handle its U.S. public relations account.

The three agencies—all in Los Angeles—are WPP Group’s Burson Marsteller and Ogilvy PR and Interpublic Group’s Golin/Harris International, according to Santa Monica, Calif.-based review consultant Select Resources International.

Eighteen-year incumbent Intergrated Marketing Works, Irvine, Calif., was not invited to participate.

The CAC launched the review last month, seeking a PR agency with food and nutrition experience paired with a strong Southern California presence. More than a dozen requests for proposals were sent. The budget is in the high six-figure range with a decision expected later this month [Adweek online, July 8].
