Arnold to Raise Lumene’s U.S. Profile

NEW YORK Skin care brand Lumene has awarded its $5-10 million advertising account to Arnold here, the agency confirmed.

The assignment followed a referral from Havas sibling Euro RSCG in Helsinki, Finland, and a six-month transatlantic courtship.

The Helsinki-based company’s brand is popular in Northern Europe, but not as well known in the United States, said John Staffen, executive creative director at Arnold.

“Our team developed a real taste for reindeer steak,” said Staffen, referring to their frequent trips to Scandinavia.

Lumene, which is distributed through CVS stores in this country, wants to amp up its marketing presence with point-of-sale and print, according to Staffen. The brand has historically put little effort behind its U.S. marketing (mostly co-op ads with CVS), but aims to make this country its biggest market within two years.

The account win comes on the heels of Arnold’s victory in the Lee pitch, a business worth about $30 million in billings.
