TEXAS Joppie Belken Arters, San Antonio, has acquired Dentinger Group, a San Antonio graphic design firm whose clients include Artesia Water Co., Steves & Sons, HEB Federal Credit Union, Crest Metal Doors and Texas Excavation Safety System. Separately, Joppie Belken Arters has also been named agency of record for Hollaway Enterprises, a real estate company based in San Antonio. DDB Needham Dallas has launched a new subscription campaign for The Dallas Morning News that features well-known local personalities like Justin Leonard and Stanley Marcus. "Delivering something different to everyone" is the tagline. The effort includes newspaper, outdoor and radio ads. Gannett Advertising & Marketing, Dallas, has been named agency of record for Payroll Central Inc. The Dallas-based client is a full-service payroll administration firm. Gannett will be responsible for all of the company's advertising, promotional and public relations activities. Stuart Bacon, Fort Worth, was hired to develop a communications program for a January new product introduction by Lasser Inc., a Fort Worth-based provider of historical oil and gas production data for Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico. Tim Daniel of Broadcast Sales Training will speak at the Nov. 11 meeting of the Houston chapter of American Women in Radio and Television. The Maxfield Group, Irving, has been named agency of record for Ultrak in Lewisville. Ultrak is a manufacturer of electronic products and systems for the security and surveillance, industrial and medical video and professional audio markets. The shop will handle a full range of advertising and marketing assignments. The Southwest chapter of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers is holding its annual AICP Show on Nov. 14 at the Lakewood Theater in Dallas. Michael & Partners, Dallas, appointed Jennifer Musker Andrade account supervisor of public relations activities for its high-tech, business-to-business and consumer accounts. Trahar, assigned to the agency's Southwestern Bell account, was with Ogilvy & Mather in New York, where he worked on American Express, Cotton Inc., Duracell, GTE, Hershey's, IBM, Kodak, Nynex and Ryder. Portman comes from Leo Burnett USA in Chicago, where he worked on Unocal 76, United Airlines, Samsonite, McDonald's Tropicana and Kellogg's. His duties at GSD&M will involve Lennox and Southwestern Bell Wireless. The Houston Direct Marketing Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 12 at the Briar Club. Ron Bliwas, president and chief executive officer of A. Eicoff, a division of Ogilvy & Mather, will discuss the evolution of television direct marketing and show rare footage of early broadcast commercials. The effort employed the positioning line, "It's a fresh new Pantry." Bates Churchill Public Relations, Houston, promoted Gates Brelsford to a vice presidency. Brelsford, a 20-year veteran in investor relations, corporate communications and financial and strategic planning, has been with Bates Churchill as client services manager since January. Patrick Henry Creative Promotions, Houston, teamed with Allied-Domecq to create a "Lift Your Holiday Spirits" cocktail program to drive premium beverage sales for Interstate Hotels Corp. Channel Three Productions, Richardson, earned three silver Telly Awards for corporate videos produced for PrimeCo Personal Communications, the Irving (Texas) Convention & Visitors Bureau and The Southland Corp.'s 7 Eleven convenience store chain. Vista Photographic and Video Group, Dallas, recently completed a catalog production shoot for KidKraft, an Irving-based manufacturer and distributor of children's furniture. The Tate Agency, Houston, promoted assistant account executive Jessica Hall Chapman to account executive. Chapman handles media relations and event management projects for clients involved in the automotive, healthcare and telecommunications fields. Temerlin McClain, Irving, hired four new staff members: management supervisor Suzanne Curtis, relationship marketing account executive Brandi Jones, senior print buyer Pat Dehn and copywriter Richard Howell. Radio Works, Houston, created a 60-second radio spot for A1 Alliance/West Plumbing of Plano. The humorous ad, "Goldfish Funeral," promotes West Plumbing's new Super Flush toilet and is airing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Saurage-Thibodeaux Research, Houston, hired project director Christian Riepe and administrative coordinator Paula Finalyson, formerly of Rehabilitation Services in Houston. Riepe was a research analyst at Advocacy Research Institute. OKLAHOMA Cari Bashaw was promoted to vice president of client services at Hartman Communications in Tulsa.
