Academy Award-winning actor Adrien Brody is starring in Stella Artois’ first Super Bowl spot.
The commercial, dubbed “Crying Jean,” is the latest ad in the Belgian beer brand’s “She Is a Thing of Beauty” campaign from Mother, London and New York. The actor plays a crooner in an underground jazz club in the early ’60s. Though the club is filled with beautiful women, he only has eyes for Stella.
“It’s an incredibly creative concept. There’s humor, and there’s a very hip, musical quality to it,” said Brody in a release. “It also pushed me past my own comfort lines with singing because I’d never done that before. That was very exciting.”
Brody, the youngest actor ever to win the Academy Award for best actor, also talked about his motivation for lending his considerable talents to the small screen and Stella Artois.
The “She Is a Thing of Beauty” global campaign has featured TV spots directed by filmmakers Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola, as well as print ads shot by photographer Bert Stern.
