Activeworlds Drops Dot-Com From Name

Activeworlds.com, a Newburyport, Mass.-based provider of 3-D technology for the Internet, has changed its name to Activeworlds Corp. Best known for creating software products and online services that allow users to chat and interact in 3-D virtual environments, the name change is meant to reflect Activeworlds Corp.’s wider range of software offerings. Customers include Boeing, Siemens, Juno and Cornell.

Separately, Boston-based DotClick Digital Music Network (www.dmn.com), has rebranded and will now be known simply as the Digital Music Network. The company can now also be found at www.digitalmusicnetwork.com and www.DMN.com. According to a statement, “the re-branding more accurately characterizes how the DMN provides each user with the most complete package of online music companion functions available in a single product.”
