Rick Johnson & Co. retained the contract to promote New Mexico tourism nationally. The agency has handled the advertising for the New Mexico Department of Tourism for the past two years.
OREGON
Turtledove Clemens/Portland muscled into the Willamete Athletic Club. The agency-of-record assignment for Willamete will include corporate imaging, advertising and marketing counsel for the 10-year-old club in Portland.
Prideaux Sullivan Pattison/Portland was selected to develop a nationwide testimonial advertising campaign for The Old Spaghetti Factory, a Portland-based chain with 36 outlets in the U.S. and Japan.
Izzy’s Pizza Restaurants served up its agency of record account to Lutes Advertising/Tigard. The 35-store chain operates in Seattle, Sacramento and Portland. Meanwhile, Embarcadero Resort in Newport also assigned its advertising to the shop.
McKinney Johnson Amato/Portland was named agency of record for Vancouver, Wash.-based Blue Rhino Trading Co. MJA will handle logo, collateral, catalog and production assignments and provide marketing assistance to Blue Rhino, which specializes in imported African art.
Portland-based Strobeck Design caught one tasty assignment to design and produce posters and flyers to promote National Fishing Week for the USDA Forest Service. The Strobeck-developed materials are distributed in Oregon and Washington.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA
Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream retained Monnens-Addis Design/Emeryville to create packaging for the company’s new Tropical Fruit Bars.
The Benjamin Group/Campbell was hired to provide pr counsel for Motorola’s Personal Messaging Products business.
Mountain View-based InnerDyne Medical selected Hayes Public Relations/San Jose to introduce radially expanding dilators to the business and surgical markets.
J. Stokes & Associates/Walnut Creek picked up four new ad and pr clients. Stokes will handle creative services for Don Sherwood Golf & Tennis World and Masterpiece Cookies; and advertising and pr for Equitable Real Estate’s Western U.S. regions and Compass Management and Leasing.
VENTURA COUNTY, CALIF.
Graphic design studio Studio Iz’m Inc. in Camarillo signed three healthcare clients: UniHealth America, Burbank; Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Thousand Oaks; and the American Cancer Society, for which the shop did a corporate presentation package.
Butler Communications was named agency of record for the Radisson Hotel in Simi Valley. Ventura-based Butler, which has worked for the client on a project basis for the past year, will handle media, graphic design and pr for the hotel.
SEATTLE
McFarland Richards And Graf landed the $1.5-million Squaresoft Inc. account. MRAG will handle television and print advertising for the video gamemaker based in Redmond, Wash. Those products are slated for introduction in the fourth quarter of this year.
Sharp Hartwig was awarded the advertising and direct marketing account for software developer Shapeware Corp.
ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF.
The Gessner Co./Tustin added two clients to its roster: Ergomedics, a Vermont manufacturer of back-support devices; and Oncotech, an oncology information company headquartered in Irvine. Gessner will handle pr and retail promotions for Ergomedics and integrated marketing services for Oncotech.
Richmond American Homes of California selected Hayes Martin/Costa Mesa to provide marketing services. Current RAH projects are in Dove Canyon, Sterling Heights and Waterford Crest in Southern California.
Armor All Products Corp., the Aliso Viejo-based marketer of car protection products, named Thinktank/La Jolla to handle its trade advertising. ThinkTank will work with Armor All and Rain Dance products and the new products division.
MOB Media/Irvine was hired to handle creative and planning for Concordia Homes’ image campaign and Worldwide Capital Industries’ radio campaign.
Start Advertising/Costa Mesa was selected by Caltrans to handle Hispanic advertising for Sacramento Rideshare.
SAN DIEGO
Phillips-Ramsey won a public relations assignment for Food for the Hungry, an international organization headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Stock/Alper & Associates was retained for a multi-media campaign to introduce Baja Medical Group, a physician referral service, to Southern California.
Honda Federal Credit Union tapped Triad Marketing to handle marketing services and a membership survey. Honda Federal is based in Torrance, Calif.
Mostre’ Design, an exhibit and display design firm, selected Roni Hicks & Associates to handle a local business and national trade marketing communications program.
Graphic design house Tandem Design picked up two clients – Business Spoken Here, providers of marketing and translation services; and Eden Financial, a distributor of insurance and mutual fund products.
The Community Development Corp./Small Business Finance Corp. retained MacCracken & Co. to develop a newsletter and collateral materials for its offices in San Diego and Orange County.
