NEW YORK Young & Rubicam will be added to the Burger King roster, after a series of strategic meetings with the Miami, Fla.-based client during the past six weeks, sources said.
The nature and size of the assignment could not immediately be determined. One source said that Y&R could pick up the national ad duties on the $350 million U.S. account, now at Amoeba in Santa Monica, Calif. Sources said the client told the New York shop on Wednesday, two days after another key meeting [Adweek, March 24]. Y&R did not return calls.
Burger King CEO Brad Blum said that there have been "various discussions taking place" with roster and non-roster shops but "no final decisions on how we are going to manage our ad account."
