VW, del Rivero Messianu Go Separate Ways

ATLANTA Volkswagen's Latin American advertising account is heading into review.

According to a statement from eight-year incumbent del Rivero Messianu/DDB in Coral Gables, Fla., the agency and Interamericana, the automaker's Latin American wholesaler, have parted ways.

"VW is a great brand that allowed us to produce award-winning creative," said agency president and CEO Eduardo del Rivero. "In recent years VW brand management changed, creative development was restricted and compensation seriously reduced. Obviously, there was no reason to continue."

The client, according to del Rivero, is in the process of issuing requests for proposal.

Neither Volkswagen nor the agency could be reached for comment.

Creative on Demand, also in Coral Gables, handles VW's U.S. Hispanic account.
