Things are always a little wacky in the world of Skittles, thanks to TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York—and two new spots for Smoothie Mix Skittles, breaking today, make things a little wackier. One ad shows two sheep with human faces discussing the new product. "How can you blend together two things as different as an orange and a mango?" asks one sheep-boy, belying his obvious mix of human and sheep. Another spot shows a man with mixers for hands. Martin Granger of Moxie Pictures directed, and special effects were added by The Mill in New York. "If you strip away all the things that are happening in the spot, it's basically a straightforward delivery of what this new product is," says group cd and art director Scott Vitrone. The ads were shot in February in Los Angeles. Copy at the end of the spot adds "Blend the rainbow" to the tagline "Taste the rainbow."
