NEW YORK Omnicom Group's TBWA\Chiat\Day has offered BBDO's Gerry Graf the job of running its creative department in New York, sources said. But BBDO is countering the offer to Graf, one of six executive creative directors at BBDO in New York, in an 11th-hour attempt to keep him, sources said.

Graf, who works on FedEx, Guinness Draught and Red Stripe beer, said on Monday night, "I have not resigned and I haven't received any offers. I am currently writing Super Bowl ads for FedEx."

BBDO North America chief creative officer Ted Sann and TBWA\C\D declined comment.

The TBWA\C\D job is that of executive cd, a role that Patrick O'Neill and Dallas Itzen shared until they were recast as creative group heads in June 2002.

If consummated, the Graf hire would be the first major personnel move of worldwide cd John Hunt, a South African native who joined the New York office in April. What's more, Graf would become the No. 2 creative in New York behind Hunt, whose role is global.
