If you think Web surfers are a single-minded bunch, new research confirms your hunch. On-line polling via BBDO’s TechSetter Hotline finds 61 percent of respondents saying they prefer magazines that are devoted entirely to one subject. But if you also think of Web denizens as ill-kempt nerds, you will be surprised by responses to a question about respondents’ favorite magazine category. Fashion publications are the favorites of 23 percent, not far behind the 29 percent for whom computer-oriented magazines are tops.
