Industry Charged With Failing to Allocate Substantial Ad Dollars
LOS ANGELES–The Hispanic Newspaper Network and 14 Spanish-language dailies nationwide have taken Latino media’s most enduring complaint into the courtroom.
Last week, the group sued WPP Group shops Young & Rubicam, J. Walter Thompson and Ogilvy
& Mather for violations of restraint-of-trade, alleging the agencies did not allocate a fair proportion of ad dollars on government accounts to Hispanic newspapers. The suit estimates a $300 million injury suffered by the plaintiffs and is asking for just less than $1 billion in damages.
The suit names several high-profile government clients, including the U.S.
