LOS ANGELES Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill said it has hired Siltanen/Keehn as its broadcast creative agency and Tesser as its design shop.
The two shops were hired following a three-month review process. The other contenders were undisclosed. While the client is expected to spend an estimated $2-3 million on ads, CMR recorded no ad spending in 2002.
The San Diego-based quick-casual chain previously worked with Grey in Los Angeles, which said last November that it would resign the account.
Siltanen/Keehn in El Segundo, Calif., will be responsible for TV and radio creative. Media is handled by Mediaspot in Corona del Mar, Calif.
Tesser in San Francisco is charged with branding, graphics and environmental design, including in-store signage and merchandising, promotional materials and decor elements.
Siltanen/Keehn's first ads for Rubio's are expected to break during the week of April 20, said agency president Pam Keehn. The 15-person shop also won ad duties a month ago for Spectrum Health Clubs and works with Round Table Pizza.
Tesser's clients have included Quiznos, Clorox, Chevys Restaurants and the Gap.
