Rhode Island and Vermont are preparing separate campaigns aimed at curbing smoking among children and teen agers.

The creative from RDW Group, Providence, R.I., and Kelliher Samets Volk of Burlington, Vt., strives to show the potentially gruesome health effects of tobacco use. In each case, school-age kids had direct input into the ads, in an effort to ensure that the work has maximum impact with its target audience.

RDW’s work for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Rhode Island is the product of a recent student contest co-sponsored by the state’s Department of Health.
