Pilot Pen Draws New Line With PermaBall Launch

BOSTON Pilot Pen next month will launch PermaBall, with support targeting the keepsake, memorabilia and scrapbook categories.

The $1.98 item will be billed as the "world's first permanent ink ball pen product," and is touted as waterproof, smearproof and fadeproof on surfaces including plastic, metal, glass, wood, ceramic and leather.

The Kaplan Thaler Group in New York handles ads in trade books, point of purchase and on the Internet. TV is also being considered.

The client in Trumbull, Conn., spent $300,000 on ads last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
