BOSTON--A two-month search for a media director concluded last week when Pagano Schenck & Kay tapped Deborah Zucher for the vacant post.

Zucher, a Boston University alumnus, was media supervisor at Ammirati Puris Lintas in New York, where she worked for the last eight months on the Compaq Computer account. She started her new job last Wednesday.

Prior to joining Ammirati, she managed the New York office of Arian, Lowe & Travis, a Chicago-based agency whose clients include Allied Van Lines, Motorola and the American Bar Association.

'She's just what we were looking for,' said agency chairman Bob Pagano. 'She's got a great personality and a lot of spunk.'

Zucher relocated to Boston with her spouse, who accepted a position at BankBoston. She was brought to Pagano's attention by the same recruiter who discovered former media director Eric Snyder, Pagano said. Snyder vacated the position in March to form an interactive company called Circle Interactive along with partner Dave Batista (Adweek, March 31).

Zucher arrives at a time when Pagano is in need of a full-time media director. Although Snyder has been acting as such in addition to starting up a new company, the shop is involved in several new business pitches, Pagano said.

One of those pitches is the $2 million Kobrand account, which Pagano is vying for along with Earle Palmer Brown and Mad Dogs & Englishmen. Kobrand is a New York-based importer of premium wines and spirits.
