ATLANTA Adair-Greene Healthcare Communications has appointed Jay Levy president, the agency said.

In his new role, Levy will be responsible for the shop's strategic direction and all executive responsibilities, according to the shop. He succeeds his son, Rich Levy, who left the Atlanta shop last year to serve as president of HealthStar Advertising in Woodbridge, N.J.

The elder Levy joined Adair-Greene more than nine years ago to strengthen the agency's direct-marketing division. He was promoted to svp in 1998 and rose to evp last year.

Levy, who has more than 20 years of pharmaceutical-marketing experience, began his career as a sales representative at Ciba Corp. in Baltimore. Prior to joining Adair-Greene, Levy owned and operated his own direct-marketing company, Promotional Services Group in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. There, he provided marketing support for manufacturers of pharmaceutical products and diagnostic supplies.

At Adair-Greene, Levy manages a staff of approximately 60 employees. The shop's clients include Arthrocare, Bone Care International, Polaroid Eyewear and Hoya Vision Care.
