The Interpublic Group of Cos. appointed William Kolb CEO of its new In-Store Marketing Group, which last week acquired East Rutherford, N.J.-based Trans World Marketing. Trans World, an in-store marketing firm, also has regional offices in cities such as Chi cago, Dallas, Los Angeles and Phoenix. Financial terms of the acquisition were undisclosed. Kolb joins the New York-based firm from International Marketing Services in New York, where he was president. He is also on the board of directors of the trade association Point-of-Purchase Advertising International. Trans World's president, James Cavaluzzi, will continue in that role at the company.
Yahoo! named Wenda Harris Millard chief advertising sales officer. She will be based in New York. Millard, a co-founder of DoubleClick, most recently was chief Internet officer at Ziff Davis Media. At Yahoo!, she will be responsible for driving North American sales of the company's advertising and marketing initiatives and leading the North American sales team.
Ben Arno was named worldwide account director at DDB New York, overseeing the Johnson & Johnson, Unilever and Georgia-Pacific businesses. He reports to Bob Kuperman, chairman and CEO at DDB New York. Arno most recently served as an executive vice president at Grey, where he worked on Goldman Sachs, American General Financial Group, Seagram, Panasonic and American Plastics Council. Prior to that, he was senior vice president, worldwide management supervisor at Ogilvy & Mather, working on American Express, Unilever, Kraft and Campbell's.
Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide/ New York hired Michael Sherman as vice president of financial communications in the Corporate Practice. He prev iously was assistant vice president of corporate communications at Wilmington Trust.
Stephen Wray was promoted to president and chief operating officer of Bates Healthworld, U.S., the consumer- and professional-advertising division of Healthworld Corp. He formerly worked as president of the shop's consumer-advertising division. Health world is based in New York.
RealTime Media opened a New York of fice, at 470 Park Ave. S. in Manhattan, and hired three former Promotions.com staffers to work there. Amie Smith was named director of business development; prior to joining the Wynnewood, Pa.-based company, she was director of international business development at Promotions.com. Craig Moser was appointed director of client service; he was previously vice president, promotions and client services at Pro motions.com. Rebecca Resnick joined as client services manager; she most recently was a senior account manager at Pro motions.com.
MRA appointed Andres Echenique interactive technology director. He is based in the Syracuse office. Echenique pre- v iously co-founded Longwood Software in Maynard, Mass., where he served as chief technology officer.
Palio Communications in Saratoga Springs hired three employees. John Borrelli was named assistant editor; he most recently was an editor at Richner Communications. Susan Hinds arrived as a graphic designer; she previously was a freelance production manager for the Orvis gift catalog in Sunderland, Vt. Dawn McHugh was appointed an account supervisor; she formerly worked as marketing manager at Becton, Dickinson.
Gillespie in Princeton hired three staffers. Holly Sullivan and Ed Andes both joined the production department as production managers. Sullivan, who previously was director of print production for Winning Strategies Advertising in Mount Laurel, will manage all print-production functions for the agency's clients. Andes formerly served as production manager for Foti & Lazo in New York; his duties include coordinating and estimating costs for production, fulfillment and shipment of direct mail, print and collateral materials with vendors. Melanie LaRosa was named project manager in the healthcare department, working on Concerta; she most recently served as account man ager for Summit Bank, Dow Jones and Hershey Foods at Princeton MarkeTech.
