Frank Gibson has been recruited by hardboiled in Atlanta as chief operating officer. Vice president of account and media services Shawne Taylor has shifted her focus to media and public relations. Her new title is vice president of media and public relations services.

MGH in Baltimore has promoted Matt Kurowski to associate strategic planner. Kristin Asplen and Kristin Filippi have advanced to account directors. The agency's president, Andy Malis, has been elected president of the Advertising Association of Baltimore.

NORTH CAROLINA

Mary Decker has arrived at J.C. Thomas Marketing as traffic and production manager. Joel Thomas, vice president of the Charlotte agency, has become administrative vice president of the Business Marketing Association's Carolina chapter. He also serves as treasurer of the association's local chapter.

Michele Miller Houck has joined the staff of Sterrett Dymond Stewart in Charlotte as vice president and account supervisor.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Crystal Communications, a division of Brandon Advertising in Myrtle Beach, has appointed Michael Dembeck associate director. Dembeck will oversee client relations, planning and implementation of public relations proposals and campaigns.

Julie Johnson, media director at Rawle Murdy Associates in Charleston, has been appointed to the Midsized Agency Media Directors Committee, a 25-member group designed to help shops develop new techniques and technologies in media planning. Edward Tajon has moved to Rawle Murdy as associate creative director from Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago.

Cori Canady has been promoted from senior designer to art director at MHI Communications.

Ipsos-Reid has named Thomas Riehle president and chief operating officer of its new U.S. public affairs division.

John Jordan has signed with The Aker Partners as a consulting partner and director of its technology practice. Previously, Jordan was a senior vice president at Porter Novelli.
