NEW YORK EPB Communications, New York, has named Ken Glaser director of business development. He spent nine years as director of business development at Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, also in New York. Howard Pyle joined APL Digital, the interactive media arm of Ammirati Puris Lintas, New York, as senior vice president, chief technologist. He had been vice president of technology at Uproar, an online entertainment site. DeWitt Media, New York, promoted Vicki Mendelson to executive vice president. She joined DeWitt in 1994 as senior vice president and group account director. DDB Worldwide, New York, has named Raquel Suarez director of its global employee development program, DDB University, scheduled to launch next spring. She was formerly a senior vice president of global staffing at Young & Rubicam. While at Y&R for 20 years, Suarez specialized in recruiting and training new talent. Getko Group, Westbury, promoted Michael Acampora to chief operating officer. He most recently served as vice president of finance and chief administrative officer. Joanne Hayes has joined Harrison & Star Healthcare Advertising and Communications, New York, as vice president, group account supervisor. She will lead the Novartis Oncology team. Hayes previously was a product manager, project manager and patient care consultant at Schering Oncology Biotech. AGA Catalog Marketing & Design, New York, promoted Jim Murtha to account director. He joined AGA in 1996 and has worked on strategic planning programs for Avon, Modo Eyewear, National Geographic and Aerosoles. Rona Cherry was named editor in chief at Golf Digest Woman (set to debut in April) and vice president of new magazine development at The New York Times Co. Magazine Group, with offices in New York and Trumbull, Conn. She was previously president of L&R Media Group, which creates products and services for women. Earlier, she developed Longevity and Fitness magazines. Jack Hyndman has joined Palio Communications, Saratoga Springs, as associate creative director. He was previously principal of Hyndman Associates, a design consultancy with offices in Portland, Ore., and New York. Peter Hanretty has joined Display Technologies, College Point, as an account executive. He previously held that title at Graphic Management & Services/IKON. BMG Entertainment, New York, named Karl Slatoff senior director of strategic marketing. He previously worked with BMG management to forge GetMusic, a joint venture with Universal Music Group. Sterling Group, New York, a brand consultancy, has named David Manning media director for Sterling Interactive, a new post. He will direct the shop's online ad and marketing efforts. Previously, he was online media director at Agency.com. Sterling offers strategic consulting, graphic design and interactive marketing to such clients as Burger King, MTV and Duracell. NEW JERSEY Kenneth Begasse joined CommonHealth, Parsippany, as executive vice president, chief marketing officer. He comes to the agency from Nelson Communications, where he was chief operating officer. Strategic Medical Communications, Cranford, named Daniel Colon production manager. He has held production posts at such firms as Prudential HealthCare, The Sawtooth Group and Western Union, as well as Lederle Laboratories. Gianettino & Meredith, Short Hills, promoted Michelle Proudfoot to assistant art director. PENNSYLVANIA John Leitner joined McAdams, Richman & Ong, Bala Cynwyd, as graphic artist. He most recently was an assistant art director and graphic designer at WMSH Advertising and Marketing Communications in Haddonfield, N.J. Al Paul Lefton Co., Philadelphia, named Jon Spratlin graphic specialist. He was previously a prepress operator, drum scanner and writer at such companies as Digidel, Delaware Digital Prepress and Phototype Color Graphics. Knezic/Pavone, Harrisburg, added two staffers. Jill Holter joined the agency as an account executive from snack-food maker Snyder's of Hanover, where she was an assistant brand manager. John Bassounas arrived as an assistant account executive after graduating from Villanova University. Marian Marchese has been named president of the Forum of Executive Women. Marchese had been president and chief executive of VirTu, a Philadelphia professional services firm that creates Internet marketing targeting consumers over 50. CONNECTICUT Media Partnership Corp., Norwalk, named Dorothy Schatzkin Higgins chief operating officer. She was a media supervisor at Ogilvy & Mather, working on the General Foods and Longines-Wittnauer accounts. Fusion 5, Westport, added three staffers. Dave Moran was named managing partner; he had been a partner at The Cambridge Group. Carlyn Kelly was named managing director, after serving as managing director at Ryan Partnership, also in Westport. Betty Dono Alonso was appointed managing director of I.shock, the agency's interactive unit; she was most recently a regional account supervisor at Young & Rubicam Latin America.
