CONNECTICUT Patricia Aureli has joined Keiler & Co. in Farmington as an account manager in the agency's public relations department, working for such clients as The Stanley Works and Allied Signal. She previously owned and managed Imagine in East Hartford and served as an account executive at Mintz & Hoke in Avon. Maier Advertising in Farmington has named Luke Giroux account executive for such business-to-business clients as Sola/Hevi-Duty, Sorvall and Risdon/AMS. He formerly was an account manager at Mason & Madison in New Haven, where he managed industrial and consumer accounts. O'Neal & Prelle has promoted Mary Duffy and Carolyn Waesche to account supervisors from senior account executives. Duffy has been with the Hartford-based agency for seven years, focusing on travel and tourism clients such as The Bushnell and the State of Connecticut. Waesche has been with O'Neal & Prelle for three years and works in the public relations department. Nyree Pinto has joined Web design shop BrainBug in Hartford as senior consultant, developing marketing strategies and action plans for various clients. She had been an account executive and writer at Salius Communications, also in Hartford. MASSACHUSETTS Barbara Scazzero has been tapped by Trinity Communications in Boston as director of strategic planning and marketing. She had been director of marketing and communications for America's HealthCare Manager, a division of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Boston. She also held posts at Motlen Metal Technology in Waltham and Metcalf & Eddy in Wakefield. Ken Thrall has been named vice president of sales at Sperry Top-Sider in Lexington. He had been senior vice president and national sales manager at G.H. Bass & Co., where he worked for 13 years. He also served as vice president and director of merchandising at The Florshiem Shoe Co., where he was employed for 18 years. Sperry Top-Sider is a division of The Stride Rite Corp. McDougall Associates in Peabody has announced the following promotions: Jessica Mayo and Janine Doucette, account executives, and Melissa Connor, junior account executive. The agency also has tapped Janine LaPointe as an account executive and Denise Collins as an executive assistant. LaPointe had been a client development manager at Phoenix Media Group in Boston. Collins had served as a marketing communications coordinator and administrative assistant at Indigo America in Woburn. Cone Communications has named Jennie Donohue account director, Rob Gould account manager, Leigh Nixon senior account executive and Susan Hershberg and Kate Conti account executives. Donohue had been manager of product publicity at Kellogg USA and, at Cone, will work on the Arrow Automotive, Ocean Spray Cranberries and Paper Mate accounts. Gould had worked at Feinstein Kean Partners and Clarke & Co. Nixon had been at Lois Paul & Partners. Hershberg had served as a media manager at Collegiate Advantage. Conti had been at Dimond Communications in Boston. Joe Debold has been appointed vice president of sales at Atreve Software in Cambridge. For the past three years, he was sales director for Candle Corp. He also served as a principal in The Partners Group, a consulting firm that provided sales and marketing direction to information technology companies. Bob Gillet has relocated from offices in Kingston to the 143 Newbury St. offices of Jacaranda Publishing in Boston. Gillet plans to continue freelancing as a graphic designer while directing art and production for the Newbury Street and Back Bay Guide. RHODE ISLAND The Providence Journal Co. has created a market development department to provide planning and analytical support to the company's advertising and circulation sales units. The new department will be directed by Robert Douglas, who joined the firm in 1991 and had held the position of director of business planning. The company also has named John D'Onofrio advertising planning manager, Kevin McKenna circulation planning manager, and Stephen Volpe operating budget manager of the new department. RDW Group in Providence has named Thomas Mulhern, former executive vice president of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, senior account executive. Tapped as account executives at the shop were: Patricia O'Hara, formerly at Streicker & Co.; Nina Talbot Robertson, previously senior managing editor of Tennis Week magazine; and Thomas Walsh Jr., formerly a public relations specialist at GTech Corp. and a communications coordinator at the Rhode Island AFL-CIO.
