CONNECTICUT Andrea Obston Marketing Communications in Hebron has named Debra Salowitz director of operations. She currently serves as an adjunct professor of history at the University of Hartford and president of the school's Greater Hartford alumni chapter. A board member of the Greater Hartford Jewish Federation's Community Relations Council, Salowitz also has been appointed to the city's Millennium Project Spirituality Task Force. MASSACHUSETTS Jonathan Lee, former vice president and director of account planning at Ingalls, has been named vice president and director of brand planning at DiMassimo in New York. Lee left the Boston agency in July, shortly after its pending sale to crosstown rival Holland Mark Martin Edmund was announced. At Ingalls, he handled accounts such as John Hancock Mutual Funds, Radisson Hotels and T.J. Maxx. McDermott/O'Neill & Associates, Boston, has tapped Kathleen O'Toole as senior vice president. She will work with all divisions to provide strategic counsel in communications and government relations to domestic and international clients. O'Toole, who will join McDermott/O'Neill in September, currently serves as executive director of the Boston College Alumni Association. She is also a member of the Independent Commission on Fire Services in Boston. From 1994 to 1998, she served as the Massachusetts secretary of public safety under Gov. William Weld. Cone has hired Randy Kambic as a director. Charged with bolstering the Boston-based shop's media relations presence in New York, Kambic has worked in media for more than 20 years, most recently as a manager in the national media relations practice of Brodeur Porter Novelli in New York. Viewpoint Studios in Boston has named Amy Coblenz director of business development and marketing, Celia Willette producer and Michael Frederick designer and art director. Coblenz previously worked in business development at The DI Group, Boston. Willette was an associate producer on the McDonald's account at Arnold Communications in Boston. Frederick has worked at CNN Headline News and Boston's NBC and Fox affiliates. Viewpoint also has promoted Dave Shilale to executive producer from producer and Drew Amorello to producer from coordinating producer. Shilale has worked on projects for clients such as PBS and The Learning Channel. Amorello has handled ESPN and TNN. Sterling Hager in Watertown has promoted Melissa Lohnes to senior account executive from account executive. Lohnes previously served as public relations specialist at Dragon Systems, a supplier of speech and language technology. RHODE ISLAND RDW Group in Providence has tapped Jim Pontarelli as senior vice president of account services and Marisa Poli as an account executive. Pontarelli first joined the agency in 1988 after having served on the staff of U.S. Sen. John Chafee in Washington, D.C. He left RDW three years later to work as director of corporate policy for Philip Morris. In that capacity, he led the company's global positioning efforts and was regional director of government affairs in the Northeast and the West Coast. Poli will handle accounts such as CollegeLink.com and Keating Technologies. Prior to RDW, she was a communications coordinator for Save the Bay and a regional press coordinator for the Newport Film Festival
