DALLAS At the recent Excellence in Marketing Awards sponsored by the New Orleans chapter of the American Marketing Association, Peter A. Mayer Advertising was named best of show and Zehnder Communications received two awards of merit, the agencies said.

Peter A. Mayer of New Orleans took home best of show for its 2003 New Orleans Saints campaign whose theme was “Don’t you wish every day was game day?” The effort included a variety of TV, radio and billboard ads featuring Saints defensive end Darren Howard and wide receiver Jerome Pathon.

Zehnder in New Orleans won two awards of merit at the seventh annual competition. One was for an image and awareness campaign created for the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospital’s earlysteps program; the second award recognized graphic standards designed to create consistency in the City of New Orleans.

The AMA awards recognize marketing excellence and achievement, specifically in the areas of strategy, effectiveness and creativity.

Separately, Mangan Holcomb Rainwater Culpepper received top honors at the recent 21st annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, the shop said.

The Little Rock, Ark.-based agency received three golds and one award of merit for St. Vincent Health System’s “Inspired” campaign. In the spot titled “Human,” scenes of doctors, nurses and patients are set to evocative music. A voiceover says, “You are a human. With a mind … a body … a soul. You are why we are here.” The campaign included four TV spots, along with print, radio, outdoor and Internet executions.

MHRC was the only Arkansas shop to earn gold-level recognition at the HHA, which attracted 3,300 entries in 30 categories.
