The state of Maryland has issued requests for proposals regarding the Mass Media andPublic Relations Campaigns of its Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Program.
RFPs are due Oct. 15. The budget is $4.5 million through the end of fiscal year 2001, with an increase to $10 million thereafter.
The campaigns, which are expected to dovetail with existing county programs, will focus on getting youth to quit smoking and on reducing second-hand smoke in households with children.
Among the agencies participating in the initial round are Trahan, Burden & Charles and Eisner Communications, both Baltimore, and Adworks in Washington, D.C.
Presentations will begin in late October.
