If creative directors want to see a mini book and not finished, engraved, laminated ads, as Vicky Oliver stated [A&C, Oct. 29], they obviously have little care for the craft of writing and a lack of respect for the craft of art direction.

Mini books are a great way for junior people to hide the fact that everything in their book has been reworked. Or that it was never shown to the client, never bought by the client or never seen by anyone besides their headhunter or their partner.

As a former executive creative director, I can tell you that I don’t look at mini books and I can also spot a fake ad pretty quick.
