Jarden Picks K.C. Shop for 3 Brands

BOSTON Bernstein-Rein has been chosen to handle advertising chores on the Crock-Pot, Mr. Coffee and Sunbeam brands following a review, the agency said.

The three brands are owned by Jarden Consumer Solutions in Boca Raton, Fla.

"The agency's strengths in multiple disciplines lead Jarden Consumer Solutions to award Bernstein-Rein the accounts," said Mary Ann Knaus, the client's svp, strategic development and global marketing, in a statement. "Not only were we impressed with their strategic thinking and creative product, but also the recent developments they've made in their consumer targeting capabilities. We think they'll be a great fit with our brands."

The ad budget and other review contenders were not disclosed. Jarden in 2006 spent approximately $6 million in U.S. measured media backing those three brands, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

"Bernstein-Rein is considering all approaches for integrated campaigns" supporting Jarden's products, said a representative at the independent shop in Kansas City, Mo. The agency's first effort is scheduled to break in the fall.

Bernstein-Rein had $60 million in revenue on billings of $564 million in 2006, according to the shop. The Wal-Mart loss, however, is not reflected in those numbers. The agency handled about half of Wal-Mart's $570 million account.
