TBWA\Chiat\Day has hired two creative directors from Amsterdam who will work on adidas, Starz/Encore and other accounts.

Boyd "Bo" Coy-ner, 37, and Kai Zastrow, 36, joined the agency's San Francisco office last week after working as a freelance team for the past two years on brands such as M-Tel, Becks, T-Mobile and adidas. Previously, they worked at Wieden + Kennedy's Amsterdam office, focusing primarily on Nike.

Before moving to Amsterdam, Coyner also worked at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, where he met Chuck McBride, who is now TBWA\C\D's executive creative director.

The hiring is the first major personnel move made by Michael Allen since he left the agency's Los Angeles office late last year to become president of the San Francisco location. Coyner and Zastrow had also worked in the San Francisco office last year on a freelance basis.

"We had been talking for a while, but now Bo and Kai are ready to bring their creative leadership to this office,'' said Allen.

"This was too good of an opportunity to pass up," said Coyner. "I think we may be able to bring some European thinking to the work."

Zastrow, who was born in Germany like Coyner, said he was eager to bring a fresh perspective to the agency. "We'll try something really different and something really modern," Zastrow said. "I'm quite excited about the possibility and quite excited about living in San Francisco. It is different, but kind of nice."
