The Virginia Tourism Corp., Richmond, Va., last week reissued the questionnaire for its $5.2-million account. When the account went into review earlier this year, incumbent Siddall, Matus & Coughter, Richmond, and Barker Campbell Farley & Mansfield, Virginia Beach, Va., reportedly made the finals. VTC officials, who have not commented publically on why the first review was scuttled, did not return calls last week.
Office Depot Drops J. Walter Thompson
CHICAGO--J. Walter Thompson here lost its $35 million broadcast creative assignment from Office Depot in Delray Beach, Fla., last week. JWT won the account 16 months ago. The client--whose proposed merger with Staples in Framingham, Mass., was scrapped after federal regulators opposed it--could not be reached for comment.
St. Louis Latecomer Lands Fox Photo
CHICAGO--Simmons, Durham & Associates in St. Louis was a late entry, but it won the $5-8 million account of Fox Photo, a chain of photo processing and equipment stores jointly owned by Eastman Kodak Co. and CPI Corp. Contenders for the business were 360 in Atlanta and The Glennon Co. in St. Louis.
GM Sponsors Hispanic Events in Miami
ATLANTA--As part of its Florida Marketing Initiative, General Motors will sponsor three major events during Miami's 25th anniversary Hispanic Heritage Festival in October. Miami's Accentmarketing is agency of record for the FMI, developed to engage Hispanic consumers in South Florida with GM brands at grassroots events.
Peak Barr Names New Creative Director
ATLANTA--Peak Barr Petralia Biety in Tampa, Fla., signed George Fuller as creative director. Previously, Fuller was associate creative director at WestWayne's Tampa office. He replaces Jim Barr, who left Peak Barr in January to form Barr Welch Productions.
