Digitas Shuffles ManagementBOSTON—Rob Cosinuke, who has been president of Digitas' headquarters here, has been named president for the company's global operations, succeeding Michael Ward, who is leaving the company to rejoin Bain Capital. Jeff Cote, evp, CFO, adds Ward's COO duties. Robert Willms, who had served as president of Digitas' Chicago and San Francisco offices, now adds Boston to his purview. New York president Laura Lang will also oversee Chicago operations. Greg Johnson, president of Digitas' London-based European operations, takes on additional responsibilities for corporate strategy. All report to chairman, CEO David Kenny. Ward spent five years at Digitas and worked for Bain in the 1990s. Mullen Lands Nextel Interactive ChoresBOSTON—Mullen has added interactive marketing chores for Nextel Communications, following a review. The Interpublic Group shop in Wenham, Mass., which already serves as lead agency on the telecom's $150-200 million ad account, bested incumbent One to One Interactive in Boston and other, undisclosed contenders, an agency rep said. Nextel has confirmed a broader evaluation of its marketing services via consultancy Roth Associates in New York [Adweek, Nov. 25]. That process, sources said, will take several more weeks to conclude, and it is unclear if any portion of the account will be placed in review. Timex Taps KirshenbaumNEW YORK—Timex on Friday selected Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners for its estimated $5-10 million ad account, following a review. The New York shop bested crosstown rival Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Modernista! of Boston in a review managed by consultants with Pile and Co. Incumbent Fallon in Minneapolis had parted ways with the Farmington, Conn.-based client in September after 15 years. Draznin to Head McKinney PR UnitATLANTA—McKinney + Silver has hired Michael Draznin to head its newly established public relations unit, McKinney Communications Group. Draznin will also serve as managing director for the Raleigh, N.C., shop's own brand unit, McKinney-brand Marketing. Draznin's agency experience includes stints at Lowe Lintas & Partners and D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, both in New York. McKinney is a unit of Havas' Arnold agency network. 4A's Brings Learning Program to New EnglandBOSTON—Those looking to strengthen their marketing savvy may look no further than the upcoming Institute of Advanced Advertising Studies, the first of its kind in the region. Sponsored by the American Association of Advertising Agencies' New England Council, the 14-week program will be held at Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston and is open to account, media and creative professionals with one to four years of experience. Students will take courses in strategic development, sales promotion and creative-presentation skills and, by the end of the course, create an integrated campaign for an upcoming Reebok product. John Newton, former management supervisor at Arnold and now an assistant professor of marketing at Suffolk University, will coordinate the program for the 4A's.
