Arnold Prepares VW EuroVan Ad Push

BOSTON—Volkswagen of America is preparing to launch an integrated TV, print, outdoor and direct campaign supporting its EuroVan, retooled for 2001 with a larger engine and lower price tag. The effort from Arnold, Boston, kicks off with a 30-second TV spot in July that incorporates the line, "There's nothing mini about it." Creative plays up the vehicle's European styling and an outdoor motif to target men. "It's more of an on-the-road feel," said Ron Lawner, chief creative officer at Arnold, who heads the VW account. Print ads appearing this month, with text such as "Van-asaurus Rex" and "It's big. It's fast. It's big and fast," will adhere to VW's trademark white-space-and-dry-humor tack. The effort will carry VW's overall tag, "Drivers wanted."
