M/W Chews on Bruegger's
CHICAGO--Martin/Williams in Minneapolis has won a review for Bruegger's Corp.'s $5-7 million account, formerly at Lotas Minard Patton McIver, New York. Competitors were undisclosed. The assignment includes brand development for the Burlington, Vt.-based company's chain of neighborhood bagel bakeries, which are located in 23 states.
White Appears at Doe-Anderson
CHICAGO--Jim White, who left the top creative job at Campbell Mithun Esty in Minneapolis early last month, has been named chief creative officer and a senior vice president at Doe-Anderson Advertising in Louisville, Ky. White replaces Gary Sloboda, who resigned.
Rotondo Leaves GM
DETROIT--Dean Rotondo, 28, General Motors' director of marketing operations, left the automaker Oct. 1, the company confirmed. Rotondo was the top public relations counsel to Phil Guarascio, GM's vice president for advertising. GM spokesperson Terry Sullivan would not comment on whether Rotondo left voluntarily or was fired. Sources indicate that Rotondo's departure was linked to the news that he and several of his family members had pled guilty two years ago to defrauding a Little Caesars subsidiary of $168,000.
Leo Breaks Heinz Campaign
CHICAGO--Leo Burnett has launched new work in its "Ketchup with issues" campaign for H.J. Heinz Co. Print ads show the bottle's label text changed to read, "Plays rough with tater tots," "In case of food break glass" and "Meatloaf's only hope." Burnett won the $20-30 million Pittsburgh-based account in March and introduced the campaign's theme with television spots in May.
FCB Worldwide Dominates Caddy Awards
DETROIT--FCB Worldwide, formerly Bozell, swept the Caddy Awards here last week, taking home 48 awards including Best of Show (for the eighth time in nine years), Best of Television, Best of Print and Best of Interactive. Capturing Best of Show and Best of Television was "Treacherous Terrain," a 60-second spot the Southfield, Mich., shop created for Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Serta Review Takes a Turn
CHICAGO--After an initial round of presentations, Serta has both eliminated and added shops in its $17 million review, sources said. The Itasca, Ill.-based mattress marketer split with Publicis & Hal Riney, Chicago, in June. Bismark in Dennis, Mass., is the consultant.
