Media Edge Combines U.S and International Units
NEW YORK–Young & Rubicam’s The Media Edge has combined its international and domestic operations to create a global entity with billings exceeding $10 billion, offices in 40 countries and a staff of 2,000. NEW YORK–Samuel Adams brewer Boston Beer Co. is conducting a fast-track review for its media duties, recently handled by Universal McCann. Billings are estimated at $20 million. McCann and the Boston client split this month and creative duties were shifted to the McCarthy Group in Princeton, N.J. [Adweek, Nov. 8]. New York consultancy Ephron Papazian & Ephron is managing the process.
PricewaterhouseCoopers Stays Within IPG
NEW YORK–Former Ammirati Puris Lintas client PricewaterhouseCoopers has found a new home at fellow IPG shop McCann-Erickson, sources said. McCann and its media arm, Universal McCann, will handle international media duties and creative duties in select international markets, sources said. Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos here continues to handle U.S. creative and media duties. The shift enables the new Lowe Lintas & Partners to retain its KPMG Peat Marwick business.
WPP Splits Stock After Hitting All-Time High
NEW YORK–After its stock soared past $130 per share, last week WPP split its shares on Wednesday per American Deposit Receipts (ADRs). The stock was not adjusted on the London market. At the close of the New York Exchange on Friday, shares traded at just over $62, down 5 1/2 points from the previous day.
Feuer Joins ‘Adweek’ as Media Editor
NEW YORK–Jack Feuer has been named media editor of Adweek magazine, a new post. A veteran marketing and media business journalist, Feuer’s experiences includes stints as West Coast bureau chief of Inside Media, managing editor of J.D. Power and Associates and associate editor of Adweek’s Western edition. In his new post, Feuer will be responsible for spearheading Adweek’s media coverage in both news and features.

Software company Siebel Systems has split with McCann-Erickson after six months and looking for a shop on the West Coast, said sources. The shop’s New York and San Francisco offices jointly handled Siebel, which recently brought in Andrew Salzman as vice president of worldwide advertising, brand strategy, from Compaq. Agencies are being told the account is worth $50 million Tina Cohoe, president of FCB Direct, has left the company, effective immediately. She will not be replaced, said FCB Worldwide spokeswoman Vonda LePage. “I’m going to pursue direct marketing outside the traditional agency environment,” perhaps in the Internet sector, Cohoe said BrannForbes has won rent-to-own chain Rent-A-Center’s $60 million account. The agency took the business from fellow Dallas shop Levenson & Hill, the Plano, Texas-based client said
