MediaCom Picks Up $125 Mil. VW in U.K.
NEW YORK--MediaCom-TMB, a unit of Grey Advertising, has won the $125-130 million buying chores of Volkswagen brands Audi, Seat and Skoda in the United Kingdom. The win from incumbent BBJ Media Services, a Carat affiliate, is the latest piece of Volkswagen business for MediaCom in London, which scooped up $280 million in VW billings from Carat in Germany and the Czech Republic in the first quarter. MediaCom Worldwide also handles the client in the Middle East and China.
Ogilvy Nabs WebMD Account
NEW YORK--Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide has won the WebMD global account without a review. The company's estimated marketing spending over five years will be $200 million, said Reggie Bradford, WebMD's chief marketing officer. The previous agency, Gotham here, was dropped last week. Ogilvy's global capabilities won the business, said Bradford.
DDB Adds $55 Mil. From Clorox
SAN FRANCISCO--The Clorox Co. has moved $55 million in billings to DDB Worldwide from Young & Rubicam. That gives the San Francisco office of DDB about $205 million in global billings from the Oakland, Calif., client. Previously, media planning was at Y&R's The Media Edge. Hispanic duties were with Y&R's The Bravo Group and DDB affiliate Dieste & Partners, Dallas. Web work was previously divided between Brand Dialogue and DDB Digital. The latter now handles all interactive duties. Media buying, which has been managed by Clorox Diamond Communications, a joint venture of Y&R and DDB, will continue on the business but under DDB management.
3 New York Finalists Prepare for Bacardi Pitch
NEW YORK--Final presentations for the Bacardi light rum account, with estimated billings of $20 million, are scheduled for Aug. 16 at the client's Miami, Fla., headquarters, sources said. The finalists are Cliff Freeman and Partners, Warwick Baker O'Neill and McCann-Erickson with its Amster Yard unit, all New York.
Riney Wins eToys Account
SAN FRANCISCO--Publicis & Hal Riney has been awarded ad duties for eToys.com, an Internet retailer of toys, children's books and baby products. San Francisco-based Riney won the account following a review involving undisclosed shops. Billings are $10-15 million. The account was at Kalis & Savage in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
DealTime.com has picked Margeotes/Fertitta + Partners, NewYork, as its agency over New York shops Gotham, Berlin, Cameron & Partners, DeVito/Verdi and Hampel/Stefanides. The assignment is valued at $5-10 million. Lee Anne Morgan & Partners in Margaretville, N.Y., assisted H.J. Heinz Company gave DDB creative duties for the $10-15 million launch of its Boston Market frozen entrƒes, said sources. DDB, San Francisco, won following a review of undisclosed shops. DDB and Heinz declined comment.
