Ritz-Carlton Delays Decision on Finalists
ATLANTA--Daniel Collins, corporate director of marketing for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co., said last week that the company would not be designating finalists for its $5 million advertising account until July 15. The client was to have narrowed its field of contenders by July 1. Collins cited the number of agency responses as the reason the decision on finalists was delayed. The hotel's advertising account had been with Tausche Henderson Drake in Atlanta, which declined to participate in the pitch.
Zimmerman Lands Bonita Bay Properties
ATLANTA--The Zimmerman Agency in Tallahassee, Fla., has landed the advertising contract of Bonita Bay Properties. Annual billings for the realty business were reported to be approximately $1 million. The account win represents the first real estate client for the $37 million Florida agency, which is looking to diversify into that category. Bonita Bay Properties, which is based in Southwest Florida, includes four realty developments. Part of the agency's creative work on the account will involve its interactive division, Zcom2.
Chilean Pisco Is Assigned to BVK/MEKA
ATLANTA--BVK/MEKA in Miami has been chosen as agency for the Association of Pisco Exporters of Chile. The advertising account is expected to bill in excess of $500,000 through the end of this year and grow to $1.5 million in 1999. The agency will break an advertising campaign later this month for Pisco, an alcoholic beverage made from muscatel grapes. The account is supported by ProChile, the Chilean government's economic development entity.
Popeyes Begins Review for Texas Markets
DALLAS--Atlanta-based Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits is reviewing its estimated $2 million local marketing and promotional account for its fast-food eateries in Houston and East Texas. Incumbent Love Advertising of Houston has opted not to defend the business. Client officials have begun contacting shops, according to sources. Popeyes officials could not be reached at press time.
Budget Parks It at Publicis & Hal Riney
CHICAGO--Budget Rent A Car Corp., headquartered in Lisle, Ill., has assigned creative duties on its advertising account to Publicis & Hal Riney here. The account review also included two other Chicago agencies: Cramer-Krasselt and Grant/Jacoby. Whether Publicis & Hal Riney also will handle media placement for the Budget Rent A Car Corp. business has not been decided. The company valued the account, which covers its automotive and truck rentals, car sales and airport parking businesses, at $50 million. Incumbent agency Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos of Boston chose not to participate in the review.
