Final 5 Pitch Celebrity Cruises This Week
ATLANTA--Miami-based Celebrity Cruises will hear final presentations this week from contenders Austin Kelley Advertising and BBDO South, both of Atlanta; Harris Drury Cohen in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Loeffler Ketchum Mountjoy in Charlotte, N.C.; and incumbent Korey, Kay & Partners of New York. A decision is expected by the end of April.
Martin Is a Runner-Up in 4A's A+ Contest
ATLANTA--At the American Association of Advertising Agencies conference last week, The Richards Group, Dallas, and BBDO, New York, were designated dual winners in the A+ Creative Awards contest for the $30 million-plus agency category. The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., shared runner-up status with Cliff Freeman & Partners, New York, in the same category.
WestWayne Tops Southeast Effies Finalists
ATLANTA--The American Marketing Association chose eight Southeast shops as finalists for its Effie awards, which recognize effectiveness in advertising. WestWayne, Atlanta, earned three Effie finalist nods. Seven Southeast shops each won one finalist designation: Adworks, Washington, D.C.; East Pointe Advertising, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Austin Kelley Advertising, Fitzgerald & Co., Hughes Advertising, J. Walter Thompson and McCann-Erickson, all Atlanta. The 63 Effies finalists nationwide will learn June 4 whether they have won a gold, silver, bronze or the grand prize.
Nashville Agency Forms in Wake of Merger
ATLANTA--Three top executives who left Bohan, Carden & Cherry in Nashville, Tenn., earlier this year have founded their own agency, dubbed McGee Best & Frank. Partners in the new shop are Pat McGee, former president at Carden & Cherry before its merger with The Bohan Agency late last year; former Carden & Cherry creative director Tim Best; and Bobby Frank, previously Carden & Cherry's director of marketing. McGee Best & Frank opens its doors with former C&C clients Western Sizzlin' Restaurants and Standard Candy, among others.
'Newseum' Signs McCann-Erickson for Intro
ATLANTA--McCann-Erickson's Washington, D.C., office was appointed to introduce an interactive news museum called Newseum, opening in Rosslyn, Va., on Friday. The tagline created by McCann-Erickson, 'Where fun is a matter of fact,' will be carried through local print, outdoor and radio advertising, as well as national magazines. Billings are estimated to be in the $1 million range.
Eisner & Associates Is Best at Baltimore Addys
ATLANTA--Eisner & Associates captured the Best in Show prize and 12 Addys at Baltimore's annual advertising awards competition. W.B. Doner & Co. was a close runner-up at the festival, receiving a total of 11 Addy awards.
