HOCHBERG GETS BACK

Joel Hochberg, former DDB Needham Chicago chief, returned to the agency business last week, but remains near Hollywood as head of Foote, Cone & Belding/L.A. Rich Edler resigned as evp/gm at Foote, Cone & Belding/L.A. after two years to pursue 'several business ventures,' including a position as a West Coast affiliate of R.N. Gold, a Westport, Conn.-based consulting firm. Edler leaves the agency to Hochberg after falling short on his goal of growing the Los Angeles shop, which has seen billings drop slightly to $100 million in recent years. Hochberg, 54, most recently operated his own marketing consulting firm after leaving 20th Century Fox, where he served as president of domestic theatrical marketing. Hochberg earlier worked for Leo Burnett Company and Grey Advertising in New York, and headed DDB Needham's office in Chicago. Hochberg's hire follows Neal Sellman's arrival at FCB/L.A. as creative director, and appears to signal the agency is poised for a make over.
