BOSTON Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos acquired independent shop Erwin-Penland, the agencies said on Wednesday. The shops had been in talks two years and the acquisition had long been expected [Adweek Online, March 3, 2003]. Terms were not disclosed.

Erwin-Penland, a 125-person shop in Greenville, S.C., will keep its name for now and its current management team, led by agency president Joe Erwin. Both shops have considerable regional Verizon Wireless business. Hill, Holliday president and CEO Mike Sheehan oversees agency operations nationwide.
