Taps Fellow Empower Vets for New Shop
LOS ANGELES--Tim Hahnke, Empower MediaMarketing's top executive on the West Coast, is leaving to form a new media marketing agency called Keen Eye International.
The new shop will be based in San Diego, where Empower's Southern California operation is headquartered, and takes its name from the San Francisco-based online ad agency Hahnke and former Empower marketing director Mickele Hughes formed late last year.
The KEI business philosophy is based on the belief that convergence is the most important element in contemporary media communications.
"Empower does good work, but it deals with a narrow slice of what we see as the entire media picture," Hahnke said. "The convergence of talent [at the new shop] is directly related to the convergence of the various media."
Joining Hahnke and Hughes as founding partners are two other Empower veterans: Camille Sobrian, its Los Angeles-based executive vice president/strategic development officer, and Sarah Qutb, its West Coast associate director of client services.
KEI will not sever all ties to Empower, which will function as its buying arm. The new shop begins life with $160 million in claimed billings from such clients as anyloan.com, Musicland, Hitplay, Webforia, SamGoody.com and A2Zshopping.com, among others.
