ATLANTA GreyAtlanta has been chosen to handle a creative project for Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts following a review, sources said.

Grey vied for the $1 million assignment against a handful of other Atlanta agencies, including Freebairn & Co., Huey/Paprocki, direct mail specialist BKV and public relations firm Edelman, sources said.

Sources said the Atlanta-based hotelier, a unit of Intercontinental Hotels Group, issued a request for proposal specifically asking for publicity stunts and non-traditional and guerilla marketing ideas for an assignment to tout a special "sleep experience program."

Crowne Plaza, which was recently repositioned as a business meetings hotel, targets business travelers and "road warriors."

Grey's sibling, GCI Group in Atlanta, has handled public relations for the hotel since 2000.
