Citing the economic slowdown, FCB Worldwide here cut its workforce by 12 percent Wednesday.

Roughly 30 workers were let go in all departments.

FCB’s New York office is defending its $400 million AT&T Wireless account in a review.

“This was an extremely difficult but necessary decision for this agency to make in response to the reduction in revenue for the San Francisco office,” the agency said in a terse statement. The shop also considered consolidating the Compaq Computer account at FCB New York.
