When graphic designers David Faucher and Chris Messina shared an apartment during their senior year at Suffolk University's New England School of Art & Design, they became more than roommates. They became a team.
"We always stuck by each other and helped each other out," said Faucher, who, along with Messina, were named co-recipients of the Robert Linsky Graphic Design Portfolio Award.
A group of judges usually bestows the honor on one graduating senior with the best portfolio presentation. This year, Faucher said, the judges couldn't decide between the pair so two awards were handed out.
Both have since landed jobs at AK Multimedia in Allston, Mass.: Messina as a part-time assistant and Faucher as a full-time assistant art director.
Although they are still roommates, the pair may soon go their separate ways professionally. Faucher is looking for full-time work at an agency where he can learn more about the business of advertising. Messina plans to stay with AK working on Web and print designs.
