Dun can/ Channon has picked up two new accounts, including the $15-20 million Network Associates business, sources said.

Neither the client nor the agency would comment, but sources involved in the Network Associates pitch said the shop edged out Grey and McCann-Erickson, both San Francisco, after a review that included other undisclosed shops. There was no incumbent.

The shop confirmed that it also picked up a $3-5 million account last week from local entertainment complex Sony Metreon after a review of undisclosed agencies.

The Network Associates win is the second time the shop has beaten out big networks in a pitch—the shop bested Foote, Cone & Belding and others last February in the $6 million Clos Du Bois winery pitch.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Network Associates designs anti-virus and piracy software and "sniffer'' technology that allows corporations to monitor employee computer use. The company is traded on the NASDAQ as NETA.

Sony Metreon is a well-known tourist staple in San Francisco with movie and IMAX theatres and stores; it also hosts film festivals.

Agency partner and creative director Bob Duncan said the Sony Metreon win was largely due to the right chemistry. "We really hit it off right away,'' he said.

Plans call for the shop to design both business-to-business and local television campaigns for the client.

"As we explored it, we decided Metreon is the place to go to experience the very latest in popular culture—whether it's movies, music, software, dining, even architecture," said general manager Andy Berkenfield.

Duncan joked that having Sony Metreon as a client may tempt shop employees to spend a little extra time playing videogames, since the center features a Sony Play Station store.

"We may end up surrendering some productivity because this is an entertainment account, and we'll want to play games," Duncan said.

San Rafael, Calif.-based Duncan/Channon is a member of the IN Network, a group of independent agencies. The shop has done work for Eidos Interactive, SkillsVillage, Zoho, and Pacific Bell, among others. Its billings are estimated at $35 million.
