Dish Network Looks at 5 Shops

CHICAGO EchoStar's Dish Network is talking to at least five agencies about a branding project, sources said.

They are: independent The Romann Group and Publicis Groupe-backed Bartle Bogle Hegarty, both in New York; Omnicom Group's Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco; and Interpublic Group's Carmichael Lynch and Campbell Mithun, both in Minneapolis, sources said. One undisclosed agency may also be involved.

A representative for the satellite TV service last week said creative had been handled in-house. The Romann Group last November produced a campaign that positioned the satellite television service as an alternative to "piggish" cable competitors. Campbell Mithun's Cash Plus Media Services handles media duties, which are unaffected, for the Englewood, Colo., client.

The agencies either declined comment or referred calls to the client, which did not immediately respond to queries.

EchoStar spent nearly $120 million on ads last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
