Deutsch Adds Murphy to Customer, Data Strategy Group

NEW YORK Deutsch said it has hired Stephen Murphy as vice president of customer and data strategy.

In the new post, Murphy, 40, will focus on clients like MCI, Novartis, Snapple, Revlon and Almay. The role was created to strengthen the New York agency's data strategy capabilities as more clients request those services, the shop said. He will report to Paula Fedoris, svp, director of customer and data strategy.

There are about 15 people in Deutsch's customer and data strategy group.

Murphy most recently spent two years at Norwalk, Conn.-based Modem Media, where he was responsible for tracking and analyzing online programs for clients such as Delta Air Lines and Enterprise Rent-A-Car as director of database marketing.

His 18-year career also includes stints at Digitas, Wunderman and AT&T.
